Consequences of the depletion of the ozone layer
Chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs are the main cause of ozone layer depletion. These are released by solvents, spray aerosols, refrigerators, air-conditioners. The ozone layer acts as an invisible shield and protects us from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. Due to depletion of ozone layer, the iron get rusted at faster rate. When iron is exposed to ultra-violet light, and as the amount of UV light is increases, the amount of oxygen atoms and iron atoms will decrease and the amount of rust molecules will increase. The photo shows the rusting of the metals near two air-conditioners as a consequences of the depletion of the ozone layer.
